We are a community organisation and support local members to help build skills, confidence, knowledge, develop ideas and be valuable members of society. Another key focus of the community work is encouraging and supporting students/members with personal and career development and to overcome any barriers. We believe we all have a responsibility to contribute to the positive development in Britain in which all members of society are valued and respected, whatever their gender or religious, racial and ethnic background is.

We rely on teamwork, staff, students, parents and community members to achieve the best outcomes for all. Using a holistic approach, we enable the community to come together and be part of a family.

Al Barakah also supports other schools, charities, organisations by fundraising, holding food stalls, collections, promoting events etc. Our school community has worked and helped raise funds for many other organisations/charities locally and nationally over the years including Orphans in Need, NW Sufra Foodbank, Read Foundation, Charity Right, Ummah Welfare Trust, Cancer Research UK,  SLMCC, Zaytoun, Iron Aid, International Medical Relief Agency, local ladies’ group, Scouts group and many more.

In 2022 we were very proud of our students and community who helped raise an amazing £22,247.55, to provide over 45,000 children’s meals in deprived countries! We had collections for a local food bank and also helped provide meals, clothing and gifts for refugees this year.

This year our school community have been supporting one of our young 5-year-old local students named Saif. He was diagnosed with the rare form of bone cancer, Osteosarcoma and had to undergo a leg amputation in 2022. It has been incredible to see the strength of the family and the support they have received from our community Masha’Allah. We are also supporting the family through their journey and helping to raise money for a bionic leg, giving him freedom and flexibility of movement throughout his lifetime as well as raising awareness of the condition: https://www.gofundme.com/f/speed-for-saif-bionic-leg?qid=5318617177d37296d4e7f163484f77cc.

Thank you and JazakAllah Khair to everyone who contributed and made all this possible.

Our Youth Club started after Covid-19 as the need for more support for youth was apparent especially with a huge rise in mental health and well-being issues, particularly in young people. This is a free service offering sports opportunities, confidence and team building skills, a safe space to talk, awareness of safer internet use and a variety of other workshops.

We are keen to support local small businesses, authors, artists, caterers, graphic designers and craft-makers, please contact us to find out more.

Our elderly in the community can often feel isolated or lonely, this is why we have no age limit at Al Barakah and make our elders feel welcome at our school. We also offer home visits, tea and a chat or further support.

We encourage giving back or serving the community therefore Al Barakah School offers a number of opportunities for volunteering, training or work experiences. A DBS check is required for all positions.

If you have any ideas or suggestions, or would like to support in any way, please feel free to email us at info@albarakah.co.uk
